What will I be doing as Head of Operational Support?
SUEZ’s Public Sector Development Team develops Waste and Recycling Collection and Treatment Service Solutions for Local Authority clients.
We think we have some great services to offer, and we want you to develop them further and bring them to new public sector clients as well as enhancing our existing client offers.
- In practice, that means leading the Operational Support team, working closely with the Director of Public Sector Development and the wider development team to inform our strategy, spotting opportunities to grow SUEZ, recycling and recovery UK business and keeping up to date with operational best practice and the latest market developments across a wide range of technologies.
- On a day-to-day level, you’ll be co-ordinating the work of our Operational Support team; supporting the wider team in identifying and reacting to invitations to tender; keeping track of all bids; and informing and leading negotiations with potential and existing clients, as well as sub-contractors.
- To succeed, you’ll need to inspire your team to perform at their best and keep a close eye on our competitive position – not just technically but also with regard to the commercial viability of bids.
- At the same time, you’ll keep the board and other stakeholders informed, while acting as our ambassador within the industry.
What are the requirements? (experience and qualifications)
- To succeed in this senior role, you must have extensive experience of the waste industry (including Energy from Waste and Alternative Energy) and ideally have worked in a bid development environment.
- You will also need a full understanding of Public Sector Procurement processes
- We’ll expect you to know all about local authority bid processes, workings, constraints and politics, as well as UK waste legislation and market drivers.
- Your expertise will be based on experience, potentially a degree (or equivalent).
- If you’ve also got a well established circle of contacts, great operational understanding and a gift for communication and leadership, we’d definitely like to hear from you.
- Full UK Driving License is required for this position
