SUEZ are seeking an experienced Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations of one of our sites in Cornwall, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant handling of recyclable materials.

About the role:
47.5 hours per week
£38,815.73 per annum plus 3x life assurance policy, 3% annual bonus, 20 days holiday plus 8 bank holidays.Based in Pool Redruth

What will I be doing?
Leadership and Team Development
- Lead, inspire, and manage a team of operatives, machine operators, and support staff
- Set clear expectations, provide consistent feedback, and drive accountability
- Promote a positive and inclusive team culture rooted in safety, respect, and continuous improvement
- Identify training needs and support ongoing staff development
Operational Management
- Oversee all aspects of operations including sorting, baling, loading, and material quality control
- Ensure daily production targets and quality standards are met
- Optimise equipment utilisation and respond quickly to any breakdowns or bottlenecks
- Coordinate with Contractors to ensure machinery is well maintained and downtime is minimised
Sustainability and Environmental Supervision
- Champion best practices in recycling and materials recovery
- Work closely with the Environmental and Compliance teams to ensure all processes meet regulatory and sustainability standards
- Identify opportunities to improve material recovery rates and reduce contamination
- Promote a facility culture that embraces environmental responsibility and long-term thinking
Health, Safety and Compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to all health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Conduct toolbox talks, incident investigations, and risk assessments
- Ensure that all work areas are clean, organized, and hazard-free
Collaboration and Communication
- Liaise with senior management, logistics, environmental teams, and external contractors
- Monitor KPIs, generate reports, and present performance updates
What are the requirements?
- Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role, preferably within an industrial, manufacturing, or environmental services setting.
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations, environmental standards, and recycling best practices.
- Someone who is confident, organised, with strong problem-solving, communication, and time-management skills
- Confident with operational reporting tools
- WAMITAB, IOSH, First Aid, Forklift Certification are desirable qualifications but not essential
- Experience with sustainability metrics, circular economy concepts, or lean methodologies would be beneficial
