We are looking for a General Maintenance Operative in Greater Manchester.
The role can be based from any of our sites, Salford, Bolton, Oldham, Newton Heath, Bury, Wythenshawe or Bredbury but you will need to be mobile to cover all the HWRCs and TLS/Bio sites.
About The Role
Location: Transfer Station, Darwen Resource Recovery Park, Springfield House, Lower Eccleshill Road, Darwen, Lancashire, BB3 0RP
- Salary £12.35 per hour
- Working 40 hours per week
- Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday
- Working hours are flexible and will be agreed between 8:00 am until 16:00 pm
- This position is a groundskeeping post.
- Applicant will be required to cut grass, strim, trim trees and hedges, etc. Some other general maintenance as requested.
- Applicant will preferably show an interest in sustainability, gardening, and the environment.
- About the role

Typical tasks include, but not limited to:
- Sampling of Waste Duties
- Mobile Plant works – Replacing blades, wipers, etc
- Dealing with all PMF issues
- Site facilities works – Drilling, signage/netting, plumbing, brickwork, doors/handles, locks, barriers
- Stores / stock audits
- General DIY
- Ad hoc works
Your experience and background:
- Mechanical Knowledge/Experience
- General DIY – Building works, Plumbing, woodwork, etc
- Good with Hand tools & power tools – drills, grinders, jigsaw
- Safety Conscious as sole worker on tasks
- Some formal Qualifications would be ideal – NVQ in Mechanical works/fitting/Joinery
- Welding would be beneficial, but not essential
- Self motivated
