Routing, Data & optimisation Specialist
As a Routing, Data and Optimisation Specialist, you’ll play a key role in shaping efficient, sustainable services across our municipal operations.
You’ll use advanced route optimisation software, modelling techniques, and data analytics to design and refine round and beat routes for Collections and Street Cleansing. Your work will support our commitment to innovation, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement across multiple contracts.
Salary: £49,000
Benefits: up to 10% annual bonus, 3 x Life Assurance Policy, 25 days holiday plus 8 bank holiday, 5% employer contribution pension.
Hours: Mon-Fri Full time is 37.5 hours per week, part time or job share options are available on request
Location: Based in the South West, ideally in Bristol but can also work out of our Weston-super-mare or Maidenhead Office.

What will I be doing?
- Interpret, merge and analyse large datasets from clients and internal systems to drive service optimisation, sustainability improvements, and operational efficiency.
- Produce detailed, data‑driven round and beat routes using optimisation tools, modelling and statistical techniques.
- Provide Contract and Regional Managers with clear option appraisals, guidance on service parameters, and recommendations throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Promote and document best practice in route optimisation, supporting a culture of continuous improvement across municipal services.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the business, ensuring optimisation initiatives align with wider municipal development strategies.
What are the requirements? (Experience and qualifications)
- Strong analytical skills, commercial awareness, and confidence working with large or complex datasets across multiple systems.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage a range of stakeholders and present information clearly.
- Experience assembling, interpreting and visualising data from contracts, regional statistics, national trends, and open data sources.
- The ability to work collaboratively, manage changing priorities, and positively influence decision‑making processes.
- Significant data and business analysis experience (minimum 5 years), alongside a relevant Data/Business Analysis qualification OR a Project Management qualification.
