As a key member of our operations team, you will support the Plant Manager in the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible running of our facility.

About the role

This is a permanent position based in Longley Lane MRT Facility (Manchester) 

The working hours are 4 on 4 off shift pattern: 40 hours per week

Hours vary depending on the days of the week: Mon-Fri 6.45am-7.45pm, Sat 6.45am-4.15pm, Sun 6.45am-2.45pm

The salary for this role is £43916.80 per annum 

Benefits include: up to 10% annual bonus, 3x life assurance policy, and 5% employer contribution pension 

About the role

What will I be doing?

You will assist the Plant Manager with the safe and efficient operation of the facility in accordance with relevant legislation/regulations.

You will engage both internal and external teams to ensure the efficient use of the processing equipment and associated assets.

  • Support the day‑to‑day operation of the facility, helping to maintain safe, compliant, and efficient processes.
  • Lead or contribute to key operational activities, including Daily Review Meetings, resolving production challenges, and supporting continuous improvement.
  • Play an active role in improving safety culture, reducing environmental risks, and championing responsible resource management.
  • Operate plant machinery (static and mobile) and carry out basic maintenance and cleaning in line with agreed standards.

This role is well suited to individuals who want to build experience in operations, environmental services, sustainability, waste and resource management, production, or plant operations, with opportunities for learning, development, and progression.
 

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, environmental responsibility, and operational compliance.
  • Be able to supervise operational activity effectively, prioritising tasks and supporting a high‑performing team culture.
  • Act as a positive role model, contributing to team development through mentoring, constructive feedback, and collaborative working.
  • Maintain accurate operational and personnel documentation, including training records and performance reviews.
  • Make informed decisions independently when required, ensuring the facility continues to operate safely and efficiently.
  • ​Operate plant machinery both static and mobile.
