About the role
- You will be based at our Landor Street MRF, Landor Street, Birmingham, B8 1AE.
- You will be working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30am - 4:00pm, with a 30 minute unpaid lunch. However, there is a requirement to work overtime as and when required.
- You will be earning £26,736, up to 3% bonus and SUEZ benefits
- You will be working towards a Engineering Maintenance Technician - Dual Discipline apprenticeship qualification which includes mechanical, electrical, welding and fabrication bias.

What will I be doing?
As an Engineering Maintenance Apprentice (entry‑level), you’ll play a key role in supporting the safe, reliable operation of our equipment and contributing to a more sustainable future. This is a hands‑on opportunity ideal for people starting their career, recent graduates, school leavers, or anyone looking to retrain and grow into a multiskilled engineering role.
You’ll be supported with dedicated training, on‑the‑job mentoring, and real responsibility from day one. Your work will help our teams keep systems running smoothly, prevent breakdowns, and continuously improve how we operate.Key responsibilities include:
- Carrying out preventative maintenance inspections to help keep our equipment safe, efficient, and reliable.
- Completing condition monitoring checks and supporting continuous improvement activities.
- Responding to reactive maintenance tasks on plant and equipment.
- Building your knowledge of mechanical and electrical breakdowns, including hands‑on experience in welding and fabrication.
- Completing maintenance stock checks and reports to support effective planning and sustainability practices.

What are the requirements?
We’re looking for someone who is motivated, curious, and passionate about building a career as a Multiskilled Engineer. You do not need prior engineering work experience, your enthusiasm, commitment, and willingness to learn are what matter most.
To join this apprenticeship, you will need:
- A genuine interest in developing your career in engineering maintenance.
- A full driving licence is desirable but not essential.
- Eligibility for the apprenticeship: you must not have previously studied the “Engineering Maintenance Technician – Dual Discipline” programme, as this would make you ineligible.
- A proactive, collaborative approach and readiness to learn from colleagues across generations and disciplines.
- The ability to work safely, follow procedures, and be part of an inclusive, respectful team.
