EfW Senior Operations Technician
Are you working in a process plant environment within the Power Generation, Chemical Process / Production, Waste Water Treatment or similar Engineering industry?We create energy from waste, reduce landfill, and help communities move towards a low‑carbon future. To do that well, we need people with different experiences, perspectives and backgrounds.
As an EFW Senior Operations Technician you’ll play a key role in keeping one or more EfW process lines running safely, efficiently and compliantly, helping to generate reliable energy from waste.
Role Details:
Salary & Benefits: £40,583 - £44,432, 20% shift allowance, up to 10% annual bonus, 3 x life assurance policy, 5% employer pension
Hours: 4 on 4 off 12 hour shifts - 2 days 2 nights 7am-7pm / 7pm-7am (18 day break after 7 rotations)
Location: Cornwall Energy Recovery Centre - EFW

What will I be doing?
- Monitoring, controlling and optimising EfW plant operations to maximise availability and performance
- Troubleshooting issues, adjusting processes, keeping accurate logs, and carrying out sampling
- Operating waste cranes and supporting safe, environmentally compliant site activities
- Deputising for the Shift Manager when required, gaining leadership and decision‑making experience
- Actively contributing to a positive safety culture and continuous improvement
What are the requirements?
- A background in Mechanical, Electrical or Process Engineering, qualified to HNC level or equivalent
- Experience in an EfW plant or similar process environment (e.g. biomass, power generation, energy or wastewater)
- Willingness to complete or work towards certifications such as BOAS, NEBOSH General Certificate, and training in root cause analysis and accident investigation
- Knowledge of safe systems of work (SSOW), with exposure to boilers, incinerators or HV switchgear desirable
- A proactive, team‑focused mindset and commitment to sustainability and safe working
