What will I be doing?
- Reporting to and supporting the Processing Contract Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring the contract operates efficiently, safely and profitably. In the absence of the Processing Contract Manager, you will take responsibility for the day‑to‑day running of the operation.
- Meeting the client in order to build relationships and understand their needs, so as to maintain long term contracts/partnerships. You will also assist in setting key personal objectives and key performance indicators to members of the team.
- You will help maintain a strong, positive team culture by reviewing performance, supporting career development, managing absence, and promoting open communication. You’ll be someone your team can approach with ideas, concerns or customer issues, and you’ll personally live our values every day.
- You will also be responsible for ensuring that all contract requirements are met. This includes attending review meetings, maintaining strong client relationships, investigating complaints, and ensuring financial processes are completed accurately and on time.
- A key part of your role will be ensuring that health and safety standards are upheld. You will help investigate accidents and incidents, support risk assessments, and actively monitor control systems to ensure safe and compliant operations.
- You will contribute to the financial performance of the contract by reviewing overtime and wage summaries, supporting budget setting, analysing financial information, and ensuring accurate month‑end predictions.
- You will also deputise for the Processing Contract Manager when required, ensuring continuity and high standards across the operation.
What are the requirements?
- You must be able to demonstrate experience in managing or supervising a team, including dealing with compliance, disciplinary matters, and health and safety responsibilities.
- Strong communication skills are essential. You will be confident engaging with clients at all levels to build relationships, understand their needs, and support long term partnerships.
- Practical experience in waste management is important, along with the ability to identify operational improvements, resolve issues, and maintain performance standards.
- You will need good numerical ability and be comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel to maintain accurate records and support financial reporting.
- A full driving licence is required.
- The following qualifications are required or desirable for the role: – COTC Level 4 (or working towards)
- Experience in health and safety management (IOSH Managing Safely desirable)
- A willingness to undertake further training and support the training of others is essential
