As a Senior Bid Manager at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, you’ll be contributing to an ever growing established company that’s helping customers reduce their impact on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce landfill.

About the role

Reporting into the Head Of Corporate Sales, your primary role is to the preparation of the B2B Corporate tenders from pre-qualification through to contractual / financial close and assisting mobilisation.

Your purpose is to develop detailed, robust and deliverable technical and commercial solutions for bids and to manage a multi-disciplined bid team (both internal and external) as well as develop relationships with new and existing 'Key Account' B2B customers within the Industrial and Commercial Division.

 

About the role

What will I be doing?

The key responsibilities of the role include:

  • The successful candidate would become the ‘face’ of a given bid externally with clients and internally with SUEZ.
  • Where required, you will also work closely with the Commercial Solutions Manager to support or lead other development projects to meet the needs of I&C in delivering it’s business growth strategy.
  • Manage, coach and develop a team of (five) bid writers. Allocate workload, set standards, perform quality reviews, and embed continuous improvement (lessons learnt, client feedback, post‑award reviews)
  • Own the end‑to‑end proposal process for corporate bids through storyboards, writing, reviewing, and submission of compliant, compelling proposals on time with handover to operations.
  • Run periodic lessons learnt and best‑practice sessions with bid writing team, publishing content updates to the bid library and sharing market and competitor insights.
  • Establish, maintain and continually improve the national bid library (people, process, tools), keeping content current, accurate and on‑brand (method statements, case studies, pricing narratives, ESG/social value propositions)
  • Establish and maintain standard bid processes and review gateways, ensuring efficiency, compliance and quality
  • Provide hands‑on leadership on critical or strategic bids when required, including leading storyboarding, content integration, and reviews.
  • Ensure bids account for operational constraints and opportunities for internalisation of materials.
  • Provide inputs to the national bid pipeline and performance reporting, prepare consolidated updates for the Head of Corporate Sales and leadership as required.
  • Track win/lose/withdraw rates, proposal quality outcomes, review findings, and content library utilisation to inform improvements.

What are the requirements?

  • Proven leadership experience managing and developing bid teams, driving high performance and continuous improvement
  • Strong end-to-end bid management expertise, producing compliant, compelling, and winning proposals
  • Excellent proposal writing, editing, and storytelling skills with a clear client-focused approach
  • Ability to develop winning strategies, differentiate offers, and translate operational capability into value propositions
  • Experience designing and implementing bid processes, governance, and quality review frameworks
  • Skilled in knowledge management, including building and maintaining bid libraries and reusable content
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence across commercial, operational, and senior leadership teams
  • Solid commercial and financial awareness, with understanding of pricing narratives and competitive positioning
  • Data-driven mindset, able to track performance metrics (win rates, quality, pipeline) and drive improvements
  • Good understanding of the UK waste, recycling, or environmental services sector, including sustainability and ESG drivers
