About the role

  • These roles are offered on a permanent full time basis.
  • This is a fixed shift of 14:00 - 22:00 Monday to Friday + every other Sunday (Sunday is paid at double time, total income circa £26,500 per annum).

What will I be doing as a Supervisor?

  • Reporting to Regional Contract Supervisor, the Supervisor will be responsible for supervising a small team of operatives responsible for providing waste collection and sortation at the Hermes distribution centre in Rugby and ensuring full compliance on the site.
  • The Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring efficient deployment of staff and resources and promoting recycling and diversion from landfill initiatives.
  • The successful candidate will work closely with the customer and other members of the SUEZ processing division team and contribute to ensuring we provide the best service to the customer (Hermes).
  • Key responsibilities of the role include liaising with the customer to determine each waste requirements from each shift, dealing with the customer’s fast paced changing requirements, conducting site audits in line with policies and procedures.
  • Further responsibilities will include managing the SUEZ waste compound, using technology to monitor and manage recycling performance, providing reports on waste performance, collating working hours of the site staff for payroll on a monthly basis, maintain budgetary control over operations, order equipment and resource for the operation.
  • Managing performance and health and safety to the contract standards.  

What are the requirements? (Experience and qualifications)

  • Applicants must be able to demonstrate a passion for recycling coupled with communication skills and must be capable of working alongside their team and the customer to deliver excellent levels of service.
  • Working as part of a team the successful candidate must have previous experience of working in a supervisory position.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in the use of Microsoft office are essential.
  • Experience of operating a counterbalance fork lift truck is desirable.
  • Qualifications held in First Aid and COTC would be an advantage, but not essential.
  • Experience of working in the recycling or waste industry is desirable, but not essential.
  • Reliability, punctuality and a positive attitude to learning new skills are also essential.
