We are looking for a Recycling Officer to join our team in Berwick. This is an ideal opportunity to learn about the recovery and recycling of household waste.

About the role

About the role:

  • This is a full time, permanent position.
  • Rate of pay is £8.78 per hour plus benefits.
  • Shifts will be four days on / four days off.

What will I be doing?

  • You will advise and assist the public on how to use the site in order to maximise recovery of material deposited in the sites.
  • You will maintain accurate records for the removal of material from the site and of all activities on the site.
  • You will control the exchange of containers, by booking loads with the relevant person thus ensuring the site always has space to segregate and store material correctly.
  • You will maintain a tidy site.
  • You will ensure that within your areas of responsibility, SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees and of other people who may be affected by your actions or omissions
  • You will co-operatie with SUEZ and with other employees in order to comply with site permit, all applicable legislation and our policies and procedures.
  • You will undertake first aider duties and fire warden duties on site.
  • Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job-role.

What are the requirements?

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic team player, who will be expected to obtain a full working understanding of the site licence / permit and who will work to ensure site operations exceed the standards required.
  • A flexible approach to work will be advantageous as you will be expected to cover holiday and sick days if required.
  • You will be required to undertake personal development to obtain skills for waste acceptance, operation and maintenance of site equipment.
  • You will have basic administration skills for the recording of data.
