As a Site Supervisor at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, you’ll be contributing to an ever growing established recycling and recovery company that’s helping customers reduce their impact on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce landfill.

About the role

What will I be doing?

  • Reporting to Senior Site Manager, you will be fully responsible for supervising the daily running of 3 sites - Kirkley West Thorn, Allendale and Haltwhistle, and provide support for the other 9 sites in the region when required.
  • The role ensures full compliance of all aspects on the sites including adhering to relevant Environment and Health and Safety Legislation.
  • You will be responsible to ensure efficient deployment of staff and resources, promote recycling and diversion from landfill initiatives.
  • You will work closely with the other members of the processing division team and contribute to ensuring we provide the best service to our clients and customers by operating above contractual standards.
  • Supervising a team of site operatives.
  • Dealing with customer complaints within the applicable timescales.
  • Conducting site audits in line with policies and procedures and liaising with our client.
  • Collating working hours of the site staff for payroll on a monthly basis.
  • Maintaining budgetary control over operations.
  • Order equipment and resource for the sites.
  • Providing COTC cover and managing recycling performance.

What are the requirements?

  • You must be able to demonstrate a passion for recycling/composting coupled with good communication skills.
  • Working as of a team, you must have a qualification in COTC Level 4 Hazardous Waste - preferably Transfer Operations - as a minimum and must be willing to gain COTC for other operations also.
  • Willingness to undertake other training and qualifications, e.g. first aid training and specific H & S qualification is also required.
  • Experience of working in the waste industry or agricultural industry is desirable, but not essential.
  • Experience of working in a supervisory position is essential.
