Derwentside Environmental Testing Services Ltd (DETS) is a UK-based environmental chemical testing laboratory offering a standard five-day turnaround. Our purely analytical laboratory provides a comprehensive range of environmental analytical testing services, from bespoke projects to more routine analytical requirements.

About the role

As a Customer Services Assistant, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive, effective and efficient administrative support to the business.

What will I be doing?

  • Ensuring that all incoming calls are answered in line with Company standards and helping with any queries customers or internal staff may have.
  • Taking and recording messages and referring messages to other staff.
  • Providing secretarial assistance to the team as required.
  • Monitoring and maintaining supplies of stationery.
  • Opening and sorting all incoming post.
  • Proofreading documents.
  • Generating invoices.
  • Purchase Order input.
  • Creating spreadsheets, composing correspondence and managing databases.
  • Maintaining the office filing system both paper based and electronically.
  • Dealing with any emails, communicating professionally and with attention to detail.
  • Photocopying, collating and distributing documents as required by managers and other members of staff.
  • Organising and co-ordinating appointments and meetings.
  • Retrieving information from written and computer based records for management and staff as required.
  • Maintaining various internal records and producing reports as required from time to time.
  • Carrying out general clerical/administrative duties as required.

What are the requirements?

  • You will have achieved five GCSEs or equivalent.
  • You should have administrative experience within a professional office environment and must be able to represent the Company in a confident and professional manner.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office is also essential.
