As a Site Operative at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, you’ll be contributing to an ever growing established company that’s helping customers reduce their impact on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce landfill.

  • Starting salary will be £9.46 per hour.
  • Zero hours contract - covering site sickness and absence. You could be working any combination of days from Monday to Sunday.

April to September 7:45am till 7:15pm

October to March 7:45am till 5:15pm

What will I be doing?

  • To work as part of a team and assist in the operational running of a busy Household Waste Recycling Centre’s.
  • The cover of various local transfer stations within the area.
  • To complete any training opportunities to meet the criteria of the role.
  • Carry out Instructions from the management team to maximise the full potential of the site and staff.
  • Maintaining a tidy site, carrying out general site cleaning and maintenance.
  • Help the management team with the implementation and progression of all SUEZ Business Systems.
  • Ensuring that within his/her areas of responsibility, SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees  and of other people who may be affected by his/her actions or omissions.
  • Ensure that all site users and employee’s comply with all Safe Working Procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and Suez policies & procedures.
  • Ensure the site is compliant with the Blackburn with Darwen HWRC contract.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork ensuring all daily/weekly checks are carried out correctly.
  • Actively promote Health and Safety through reporting Near Miss and Safety in Mind Observations as per SUEZ procedure.
  • To assist and advised customer and the continuing education of members of public, to maximize recycling on site and divert materials from land fill.
  • Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the role.

What are the requirements?

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic team player who is customer driven with excellent communication skills, with a focus on recycling to ensure that site operations exceed all the standards required.
  • The position requires a variety of tasks in various locations to be completed so a flexible, forward thinking approach to work is needed.
  • The successful applicant will be required to undertake and complete all personal development and training to obtain the skills for waste acceptance, maintenance of site equipment, infrastructure and the operation of site machinery.

This post is an ideal opportunity to assist in developing the site to meet the current aspiration of SUEZ, to work closely with customers to maximise the recycling recovery rates.

The role and salary will be based on a revised rota currently covering sites operating days and hours (This will be discussed at Interview)

The successful applicant will be on a SUEZ contract but will be subject to completing a satisfactory 6 month probationary period.
