About the role

About the role

  • This role is offered on a permanent, full time basis.
  • This role is based in Bridgwater, Somerset.

What will I be doing?

  • Reporting to the Senior HR Manager, as part of a team, you will provide routine HR advice on all day to day employment matters covering all aspects of the employment relationship such as recruitment, reward, absence management, conduct and delivering change.
  • This role will initially support the mobilisation of the new Somerset Municipal contract, and then in time other SUEZ operations in the surrounding area.
  • This role will involve travelling between the 5 Somerset Municipal locations and also throughout the South West region to a lesser extent.
  • You will be a key part of the management team heading up the Somerset municipal contract, which will include setting the plans and road maps for delivering the necessary changes as required in our contract with the Somerset Waste Partnership.
  • All HR related activity will be part of your daily routine so you will need to provide guidance and support to both the employees employed on the contract and to the managers and supervisors managing the contract.
  • This is a hands-on role working out in the business and you will need to ensure that the performance of all employees is effectively managed, ensuring that underperformance is addressed, and excellent performance is recognised.

About the person

  • We are looking for someone who can communicate effectively with all employees and has the ability to work with all parties to resolve conflict and disagreement.
  • You need to be able to multi task numerous on-going daily issues across all 5 locations in Somerset and be able to provide support and assistance to managers and supervisors to find a suitable resolution.
  • This role will suit someone who has an understanding of managing people, enjoys a varied working day and is someone who can effectively influence others to change behaviour.
  • A working knowledge of HR would be an advantage, as would experience of managing others, but is essential that you have the ability to engage with people and are able to use your experience and knowledge of working life to provide support and guidance to your customers.
