DETS Laboratories is looking for LIMS Systems Developer to join us.

About the role


The salary band for this role is between £25,000 – £30,000 dependant on experience and qualifications.

What will I be doing?

  • The role will be based at the DETS North Site in Consett and although a good majority of your role would be for this particular site your role would support other labs within the division; DETS South – Lenham Heath and Latis – Crayford.
  • You will form part of the IT team and play a key role in the design, installation, testing and maintenance of all software systems. 
  • You will report directly to the UK Laboratory Systems Manager who is also based at the Consett site. 
  • Some UK travel may be required. 
  • There may also be the need to cover weekend work on a rota basis.  
  • Your normal hours of work will be 9am – 5pm but there may be the need to work the following weekday shifts; 8am – 4pm and 10am to 6pm on a rotation basis. 

What are the requirements?

  • As part of very fast-paced business, you’ll be a hardworking team player with great communication skills and the ability to influence others as well as make decisions on your own.
  • You must be able to demonstrate that you see projects through to completion and are excited by the prospect of working on something new and exciting that will be used to improve and progress.
  • You should be comfortable researching and learning about the latest technologies and being able to apply this to your everyday role with the business.
  • A degree in a computer related discipline, or a HND in a computer related discipline with two years relevant work experience, or a minimum four years relevant work experience.
  • Expertise in current computer hardware and software.
  • In-depth knowledge and use of one or more development languages (C++,, ASP, PHP, VBA, HTML, etc.).
  • Knowledge of database driven systems (SQL, MySQL).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Project management.
  • Eye for detail and identifying problems.
  • Desirable skills.
  • Experience of working in a laboratory environment.
  • Knowledge of helpdesk systems and SLA.
  • Knowledge of barcoding, QR coding etc.
