Assistant Tax Manager? You can help create a greener UK

A greener, more environmentally-friendly UK is possible – and we’re making it happen. As an Assistant Tax Manager at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, you’ll be contributing to an ever growing established company that’s helping customers reduce their impact on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce landfill.

About the role

What will I be doing?

  • This is an exciting opportunity for you to develop your corporate tax skills, overseeing the work of the Assistant Tax Accountant, and reporting to the Tax Manager.
  • You would take responsibility for dealing with the more complex aspects of the UK corporation tax compliance and tax accounting for the SUEZ UK waste and water sub-groups and their associates (approximately 50 entities), including group reporting to our French parent company.
  • Whilst corporate tax will be the main area of focus, there is an expectation that you will also assist the Head of Tax in advising in the area of environmental taxes, including landfill tax. Although, prior knowledge of environmental taxes is not considered essential to this role, you will enjoy the challenge of learning this potentially new area of tax and advising the business at a very practical and commercial level.
  • There are also opportunities to expand knowledge by providing ad hoc support on other indirect and employment tax matters.
  • You will join a dynamic team and motivated team of 6 covering direct, indirect and employment taxes. As a team we are focused on continual process improvements and maximising the use of technology. A critical element of this role is aiding the team in our digital journey and identifying new and improved ways of working.

What are the requirements?

  • We are looking for a candidate with corporate tax experience and accounting knowledge. You will preferably be ACA/CTA qualified and have IFRS accounting experience. You will hold detailed knowledge of tax reporting and accounting, be computer literate and have the ability to work to tight deadlines.
  • You will have a strong desire to learn, and embrace all areas of taxation.
  • This is a great in-house role suitable for someone looking for that next step in their career, or to come from agency to in-house and develop their skills.
