As a Site Operative at SUEZ, recycling and recovery UK, you’ll be contributing to an ever growing established company that’s helping customers reduce their impact on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce landfill.

  • This position is a permanent position.
  • The working hours are Monday to Friday 08.00am to 4.30pm
  • The pay rate for this role is £10.24 per hour

What will I be doing?

The primary main purpose of this role is to be a site operative to provide cover for holiday, sickness, absence, assistance and other related cover for the contract that SUEZ UK has with Durham County Council. You will work across the 4 transfer stations located in Annfield Plain, Newton Aycliffe, Shotton Colliery and Stainton. You may also be required to cover at other SUEZ UK sites in the North East.

A requirement of your role will be that you have your own transport available, a travel allowance will be paid to the successful candidate when they travel between any of the above sites. As this is a ‘floating’ role, you will need to have adequate insurance.

  • Completion of all relevant paperwork and returned to the site supervisor
  • Litter picking around the site which includes working outside
  • Aid with cleaning duties across the whole site including the mobile and fixed plant
  • Maximise recycling and recovery within the facility.
  • Minimise the amount of waste that is sent to landfill.
  • Working to procedures as laid out in the company’s Quality system.
  • Ensure that all operational standards are maintained and relevant legislation is complied with.
  • To follow all company health and safety procedures  at all times
  • Any other duties commensurate with the post.

What are the requirements?

  • Qualification in mobile plant driving – loading shovel
  • Experience of a high paced loading environment and the ability to work in a logical calm manner
  • Experience of managing  a busy work area
  • Good communication skills (both verbal and written), good daily verbal communication is essential in this role.
  • Degree of flexibility is required as working hours will include some Bank Holiday, catch up days and Saturday working.
  • Reliability, honesty, conscientious, practical, safety awareness.
  • Being prepared to work to our company values, including being flexible in a demanding environment.
