Are you looking for a new role as a Site Operative?

This is an ideal opportunity to work as part of a small team in a recently modified Transfer Station, which has a large emphasis on recycling. About the role

About the Role

  • This position is full time / permanent, working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday, alternating from 08:00hrs to 17:00hrs Monday to Friday one week and 07:30hrs to 16.30hrs Monday to Friday the next, plus overtime from 07.30 to 13.00 every other Saturday (overtime is only paid after completion of 40 hours work). 
  • Rate of pay is £9.55 per hour.

What will I be doing?

As a Site Operative, supporting the Northumberland PFI operations team, your duties would include:

  • Operating the weighbridge and following waste acceptance procedures to ensure correct and safe import and export of materials.
  • Operating the loading shovel to stockpile material and load wagons for the export of material
  • Maintaining accurate records for the import and export of material and of all activities on the site.
  • Maintenance of site equipment and tools
  • Ensuring that within his/her areas of responsibility, SUEZ Recycling & recovery UK Ltd complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees and of other people who may be affected by his/her actions or omissions. Including site visitors and contractors.
  • Co-operating with SUEZ R & R UK Ltd and with other employees in order to comply with site permit, all applicable legislation and SUEZ R & r UK Ltd Policies and Procedures
  • Undertaking first aider duties and fire warden duties on site.

What are the requirements?

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic team player, who will be expected to obtain a full working understanding of the site licence / permit and who will work to ensure site operations exceed the standards required.
  • A flexible approach to work will be advantageous as you may be expected to cover holiday and sick days if required.
  • You will be required to undertake personal development to obtain skills for waste acceptance, maintenance of site equipment, infrastructure and operation of site machinery e.g. loading shovel.
  • Basic computer skills for the input and recording of data on the weighbridge and reporting systems are a requirement for this position.
