About the role

What will I be doing?

  • You will carry out the operation of loading shovels, FLT & tele-handlers across the site, loading a variety of different types of vehicles such as curtain sided vehicles, shipping containers and bulk haulage walking floors. This will involve:
  • The safe and efficient operation of fixed machinery, such as bailing machines.
  • Completion of pre operational safety and operator checks.
  • Completion of daily checks and maintenance of mobile plant, Fixed Plant and equipment used at the facility.
  • Ensuring that all deliveries of waste are in compliance with the site licence and any associated paper work is completed.
  • Carry out inspections on incoming product(s) in line with the site Waste Acceptance Criteria, and report any non-compliant loads.
  • Direct customer’s vehicles to the various disposal areas and assist them with off-loading as required.
  • Ensure compliance with all material export requirements such as photo’s, paperwork and container seals.
  • Assist Sampling Operatives with collection of output samples.
  • Comply fully with all company and local procedures.
  • Ensure the site is kept clean and tidy at all times.
  • Assist Production staff with their duties during end of shift clean-ups and plant downtime.
  • Contribute to lean and 5’s activities across the site in order to maintain a clean, organised and efficient workplace.
  • To work as part of a team to maintain an efficient and cost effective operation.
  • Ensuring that SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees.
  • Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job role.

What are the requirements?

  • In order to make an immediate impact, we are ideally seeking an experienced plant operator, who holds the relevant CITB/CPCS/NPORS certification or equivalent, but for the right candidate training can be given.
  • We are looking for an enthusiastic team player, who will be expected to join the current site team to ensure site operations exceed the standards required, so you'll need:
  • A flexible approach to work will be advantageous as you will be expected to cover holiday and sick days if required.
  • A safety conscious approach with the desire to develop & embrace change to promote continuous improvement.
  • Previous experience within the waste industry or other high volume production processes is an advantage, but not a necessity
