About the role

What will I be doing as a Re-use Hub manager?

One of the commitments SUEZ has made through our contract with Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA) is to establish a re-use hub, where we can repair items donated from our Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC’s), to then sell in three re-use shops within Greater Manchester. The objective; to generate revenue to be re-invested in social projects across the GM region.

You will be responsible for managing the re-use hub and shops, making sure any goods or items are restored, quality tested and fit for re-sale, before being logged and stored in the warehouse or put up for sale. This will mean you’ll be overseeing the staff, financials as well as operational and health & safety compliance, broken down in to three key areas:


  • Ensuring all goods are cleaned, repaired and tested, meeting quality standards / compliance regulations and fit for sale
  • Working with local third sector organisations, who provide services to the hub, managing and developing relationships.


  • Coordinate and monitor the receipt, repair and dispatch of goods, keeping up to date and accurate inventory records
  • Oversee the maintenance and operation of vehicles, equipment and warehouse management systems.


  • Maximise customer interest and engagement, through innovative displaying of products, to achieve sales targets and meet forecasts
  • Analyse trends to identify product areas to focus on and develop an online selling platform, to drive further sales.

What are the requirements?

Foremost you will need a passion for recycling and be full of ideas of how to upcycle and re-use items, with the knowledge and experience to make them happen, and a focus on delivering affordable items to support people on lower incomes.

With a background that has given you a good commercial understanding of both retail and warehouse management, you’ll have motivational people skills and ready to lead a team, to engage with and deliver a vision, which should be guided by your:

  • Awareness of re-use and the circular economy.
  • Capability to understand and analyse sales figure.
  • Commitment to providing training/work experience opportunities to the third sector and people from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of health and safety, trading standards and other relevant legislation.

You’ll also require a full UK driving licence, as you’ll need to travel between the hub and shops, to provide constant support and input to guarantee success.
