About the role

About The Role

  • Based ideally on the M5 Corridor, you'll be providing support to our entire SW Region which includes multiple sites across Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Gloucester, Bristol, Wiltshire and Dorset.
  • The role includes direct line management responsibility for a small team of H&S advisors.

What will I be doing?

  • Reporting to the National Health and Safety Manager you will be the Regional focal point for Health and Safety best practice across all operational activities in the SW.
  • The operational range is vast covering household waste recycling centres, transfer stations, materials recycling facilities, workshops, logistics depots, collections contracts and energy from waste facilities.
  • Operational experience would be advantageous however practical hands on health and safety implementation and operational knowledge is essential for this role.
  • You will provide effective leadership to a small team of H&S advisors. Together you will collectively be responsible for providing on site advice, guidance, support and recommendations to the operational teams, including our strong network of H&S representatives, to ensure a process of continual improvement.
  • Tracking and delivery of quarterly objectives and targets set for the team is also a key responsibility of this role and so strong demonstrable project and team management skills are paramount.
  • Efficient monitoring of performance against set KPI’s is a given and therefore you should be able to demonstrate excellent report writing and data analysis skills. 

What are the Requirements?

  • NEBOSH Diploma/ NVQ level 5 in Occupational Safety and Health.
  • Membership of the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health
  •  At least two years’ experience in a professional Health and Safety position in an industry presenting complex risks.
  • Experience of working in the Waste Disposal/Recycling Industry.
  • Line Management and project management/delivery experience.
  • Experience of hands on H&S implementation in an operational setting.
  • Strong report writing and data analysis skills.
  • Full clean driving licence
