About the role

What will you be doing as an Upstream Energy Solutions Senior Application Expert?

You will be the recognised technical expert in the area of separations: emulsion breaking and water clarification, working with finished products but equally able to develop formulations working in the field. You’ll develop further expertise of SUEZ’s upstream product line, equipment and service offerings, to understand which solution best meets customers operational requirements.

Working as part of a Global team, you will have project accountability for scientific design, analysis and evaluation execution to ensure customer and stakeholders expectations are met, as well as problem identification and formulation of solutions. Core activity will mean you:

  • Spend time in the field testing and developing solutions to overcome the most complex of separation challenges and applying experience and knowledge to formulate new offerings in -situ
  • Play a key role in tender submissions and trial proposals.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports detailing technical problems and solutions to initiate necessary corrective product modifications and/or recommended process changes
  • Contribute to the separation product line management and related projects/ requirements including commercial health
  • Generate alternative solutions to problems, taking reasonable risks using advanced scientific concepts for product and process innovation, leveraging best practice and standard operating procedures
  • Design and propose novel best practice and ideas to differentiate in the market as well as support continuous improvement
  • Promote technical accomplishments and create technical content for marketing collateral, case histories, product fact sheets, industry playbooks, manuals and technical certification
  • Communicate key information clearly to internal / external customers and across the organisation, to influence technical decisions and strategy
  • Contributes to training material and participates as a trainer for internal and external audiences on their area of expertise.

What are the requirements for the role?

Essential to this role is a substantial amount of technical experience in the oil and gas sector, with an established industry related network, specifically within separations: water clarifiers and emulsion breaker, products and solutions. This should include product formulation and technical process experience, with a proven ability for developing and delivering customer solutions.

Working independently, you’ll need excellent project management and organisational skills, plus the flexibility and willingness to travel internationally, on- and off-shore (up to 50% of the time).

  • Educated to minimum degree level (or equivalent) in Chemistry, Chemical or related Engineering discipline
  • Significant experience of oilfield separations, specifically Emulsion Breakers and Demonstrated ability to embrace a vision, strategy and drive a plan to execute
  • Strong process and project management skills with ability to drive projects and meet deadlines
  • Strong communication, analytical and computer skills.
  • Current and valid passport.
