Experienced Education & Community Officer

When you join SUEZ, you get more than a brand-new role. SUEZ is undergoing a dramatic transformation to help the United Kingdom become more resource-efficient, by replacing traditional waste disposal methods, with a host of new technologies and services designed to extract the maximum value from the things we throw away, conserving natural resources.

We’re passionate about building good relationships with the local communities that we operate in and about helping to educate the next generation to reduce, reuse and recycle to conserve our natural resources. We run Cornwall’s network of integrated waste management facilities under a 30 year contract with Cornwall Council. This includes two visitor centres at Bodmin materials recycling facility and Cornwall energy recovery centre, where schools and community groups can learn first hand what happens to their waste and recycling.

What will I be doing as an Education & Community Officer?

•    As a key member of our Cornwall team, your role will be to promote recycling and waste prevention to residents, as part of a wide reaching and varied programme developed with our client Cornwall Council.

•    Predominantly this will be hosting visits for members of the public and schools at both the Bodmin materials recycling centre and the Cornwall energy recovery centre, delivering education and awareness campaigns throughout the area.

•    The successful candidate will have a passion for the environment and the desire to make a difference.

What are the requirements? (experience and qualifications)

•    You will need to be a natural communicator and have the confidence to stand up in front of a range of different audiences and build positive relationships with them and other key stakeholders.

•    Having experience in developing, delivering and evaluating projects, will mean that you are confident at working on your own and as part of a team to make these happen.

•    You will also be working with people at all levels, so you will need to be adaptable in order to communicate effectively with them.

•    With such a varied role, good prioritisation and multi tasking skills will be essential in order to deliver excellent work on time and to the required standards.

•    Experience in an educational or communications based role would be an advantage, but is not essential.

•    A full UK driving license is essential for the role.

Who we are

At SUEZ the efficient and sustainable management of resources around the globe is at the heart of everything we do. Respect – acting ethically and with integrity – is one of our core values. We’re passionate about the environment and believe in protecting our world. Over 90,000 likeminded people worldwide makes for an incredible team, where collaboration and trust are part of the way we work. With true team spirit, we can give our customers a standard of service that goes above and beyond and ensure that our local communities have access to essential water and waste services.

We thank our people for all they do with development opportunities, wide-ranging benefits and rewards that reflect their hard work. In a friendly, supportive environment, you’ll be inspired to grow and play your part in creating a better future for all.
