When you join SUEZ, you get more than a brand-new role. Your work will help us deliver innovative and environmentally responsible solutions for water and waste management. You will get a chance to help us preserve and restore our planet’s natural capital for future generations. It’s a career that’s not only exciting, but full of opportunities as well as professional and personal fulfilment.

About the role

What will I be doing?

You will be part of the senior management team responsible for delivering a safe and efficient waste collection service to the residents of Somerset.  You will be working directly with the onsite operational teams to ensure a high standard of service delivery across all 5 depots within the contract.  You will not have a specific depot within your remit, you will be an additional experienced resource to support across the entire contract and will be deployed to manage a variety of operational issues.  Your work will be project based, and hence be varied in nature but focussed upon service delivery.

Key elements of the role will include:

  • Supporting the implementation of new services and delivering change within the contract
  • Managing a residential waste collection operation
  • Focussed on service delivery and full daily completion of rounds
  • Constantly review operational processes and practices implementing changes and driving continuous improvement
  • Lead and develop your team, providing excellent service to the residents of Somerset.

What are the requirements?

Highly client focussed, self-motivated and service driven.  You will have a background of managing within a similar environment within the industry, along with:

  • Experience of a residential waste collection service
  • Knowledge of a public sector municipal collection contract
  • An understanding of high standards of service
  • Strong financial and analytical skills such as cost savings and driving efficiencies
  • Ideally qualifications including IOSH or NEBOSH, or the ability to gain them, but good IT skills are essential.

You'll need to be able to demonstrate an ability to lead a diverse workforce ranging from service delivery teams through to Depot managers all with different skills and experience.  You will also need to be confident and comfortable to work with our client and their stakeholders.
