About the role

This is a full time permanent role based at Neachells Lane, Wolverhampton with a pay rate of £10.75 per hour. The Plant Operative will work as part of a small team of people to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the facility and will be responsible for operating the mobile and fixed plant. The plant operative will work with the site supervisor to ensure all operational processes at the site comply with relevant legal, safety and environmental constraints.

The position is on a day shift but may move on to a shift pattern in the future. Flexibility to work at the sister site in Birmingham if required would be advantageous.


What will I be doing as a Plant Operative?

  • To carry out duties to maximise the recycling process at our facilities.
  • To load the processing plant, monitoring the levels of inputs and outputs from the plant. 
  • To transfer material around site, using mobile plant.
  • To carry out daily checks on plant and equipment used at the facility. Liaising with Supervisor/Manager regarding maintenance of mobile and fixed plant.
  • To carry out general labouring duties across the site.
  • To be smart and presentable at all times, including wearing the correct staff uniform and Personal Protective Equipment.
  • To inspect waste entering the site to ensure it is compliant with the site permit.
  • To comply with all of SUEZ R&R UK’s policies and procedures, including safe working procedures.
  • To assist in the traffic management on site, including vehicles entering and exiting the site.
  • Any other duties that are reasonably requested.


What are the requirements?

We are looking for an enthusiastic team player, who will be expected to join the current site team to ensure site operations exceed the standards required.

  • Enthusiastic and proactive team player.
  • A flexible approach to work, including hours.
  • Licensed to operate mobile plant (Telehandler) desirable.
  • Experience with operating Telehandler attachments advantage.
  • IOSH - desirable.
  • Fixed plant experience and a mechanical aptitude to identify repair and maintain equipment.
  • Experience working outdoors.
