About the role

The role covers our evening shift operations (from 15:00 until 00:45, Monday to Friday). In addition to supervising the small teams of drivers at East London and Sittingbourne, and supporting the safety management of our operations, you will be covering euro bin collection routes when the normal driver is off, as well as supporting with Rapid Reponse services when required.

What will I be doing?

  • Managing the Drivers pre-shift and at the start of the shift to ensure they commence their rounds safely and promptly whilst resolving any issues until normal office hours commence.
  • Managing and investigating vehicle / personal incidents and any road traffic accidents.
  • Investigating and resolving near miss / hazard reports.
  • Weekly vehicle inspections / gate checks.
  • Responsible for ensuring the downloading of VU and Drivers’ tacho cards and reviewing infringement reports with Drivers.
  • Ensuring vehicles are presented for service on time and inspections (inc. LOLER) are completed as per company standards.
  • Responsible for driver inductions and training, as well as delivering toolbox talks.
  • Complete yearly driving and pre-employment driving assessments.
  • Occasional cover for Driver sickness / absence as required (LGV licence is therefore essential).

What are the requirements?

  • It is essential to have an LGV (CAT C) Licence and Driver CPC Card.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Valid First Aid Certificate (training can be provided for the successful candidate).
  • IOSH qualification (training can be provided for the successful candidate).
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal), including basic PC skills – Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
