About the role

What will I be doing?

•    To supervise  one TS and two HWRC operations as part of the Northumberland PFi contract.

•    Ensure compliance with all relevant legislative and commercial standards.

•    To ensure efficient deployment of staff and resources.

•    Ensure that all plant and equipment is operated at all times to protect the health and safety of staff, contractors and visitors to the site.

•    You will also be responsible for ensuring activities of all employees comply with SUEZ’s policies and procedures and relevant health and safety legislation.

•    You will need to ensure recycling rates are maintained on site.

•    Maintain budgetary control over operations

•    Order equipment and resources as necessary for operations

•    Responsibility for maintaining H&S standards on site

•    Ensure planned and preventative maintenance is undertaken on all plant and equipment

•    Managing performance of the site in relation to contract standards agreed with customers

•    Liaison with outside bodies as required/necessary.

•    Lead and develop a team to ensure operational best practice is adopted and adhered to.

•    Training of staff i.e. Manual Handling, Safety DVD, Diversity, Safe Systems of Work, Risk Assessments etc.

•    Ensure that all records on sites are updated (training records, risk assessments etc) and kept in accordance with Policies and Procedures & legislation.

•    Provide Level 4 COTC cover for site operations

•    To provide a client focused service that supports the changing needs of our customers and the market.

•    Deal with complaints relating to HWRC or transfer operations within applicable timescales

•    Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job-role

What are the requirements?

•    You must be able to demonstrate a passion for recycling coupled with strong communication skills.

•    HWRC/Transfer Station knowledge.

•    Experience of supervision of loading shovel and weighbridge operations is desirable.

•    You will be required to be computer literate and have knowledge in the use of Microsoft packages.

•    You will need to bring your experience of supervising and developing engaged teams to meet very high operational standards to the role.

•    You will need a minimum certification of NEBOSH managing safely or the ability to achieve this within 12 months. 

•    A relevant COTC in Treatment and Transfer at a Level 4 will be required.
