About the role

What will you be doing?

  • The Operations Technician will be responsible for operating and maintaining the industrial water and wastewater treatment plant and associated equipment to achieve water quality targets and ensuring continuous operations without impact to the system.
  • The Operations Technician will be expected to drive operational excellence and significantly improve the safety, reliability and efficiency of the water treatment plant.
  • The Operations Technician role will be required to provide support to both the Operations Manager and the Operations Lead Technician and will involve working mainly at Shepherd Neame WRP. 
  • The role will be predominantly operational shift cover on a two weekly rotating shift pattern – week 1 shifts will be 6am – 2pm and during week 2 shifts will be 2pm to 10pm Monday to Friday, during periods of annual leave, the operations technician may be required to cover alternative shifts instead of their normal shift.
  • The role will cover all operational aspects required to successfully operate the plant, Including but not limited to, Process sampling, sample analysis, operating a centrifuge, operating valves to optimise the running of the plant, housekeeping, data gathering, data, chemical handling.

What are the requirements?

  • Experience of working in a production environment/warehousing
  • Experience of managing sub-contractor activities and planning sub contract activities
  • FLT licence training
  • Proactive attitude
  • To be able to demonstrate through previous work experience, an ability to interpret technical information to affect changes on the plant
  • Demonstrate the ability to work within a quality system
  • Ability and knowledge to complete basic repairs and maintenance
  • Experience of operating Water and/or Wastewater Treatment Plant is desirable but not essential
  • IT literate
