As an Operations Manager at SUEZ recycling and recovery UK, you’ll be contributing to an ever growing established company that’s helping customers reduce their impact on the environment, conserve natural resources and reduce landfill.

About the role

What will I be doing?

  • Reporting to the Senior Operations Manager , you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of collection services in one or all of Somerset’s 5 depots.
  • Lead and coach the onsite operational team.
  • Responsible for collections of residual and recycling material in order to deliver a successful business for our customer Somerset Waste Partnership.

Key responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Ensure Health Safety & wellbeing policy and procedures are adhered too.
  • Ensure fleet compliance is maintained working with the Fleet Operations Manager.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience for our client Somerset Waste Partnership.
  • Maximise profits and deliver financial results within a challenging budget by constantly reviewing current standards and practices and implement changes to improve the standard of delivery.
  • Providing excellent collection services to the residents in the Somerset Waste Partnership area.
  • This will also involve working with the Business Transformation Manager to develop and implement LEAN manufacturing principles.

What are the requirements?

  • You must be highly motivated and have extensive experience of managing a collection & processing operation - ideally with waste industry knowledge.
  • A good financial understanding of P&L accounts will be needed to be able to identify cost savings balanced against service standards for all sites and services provided.
  • Working as part of a management team, the ability to lead, engage and develop a diverse team of assistant manager, supervisors and collection staff with different skills and experience will also be required.
  • Desirable qualification are International or National CPC in road haulage, COTC level 4 transfer, treatment, NEBOSH and good IT skills.
  • Effectively manage a large unionised workforce
