An opportunity has arisen within the wider Health and Safety (H&S) Operations department for a secondment role as a ‘Health and Safety Training Officer’ in the South

About the role

About the Role

  • This role can be based in the Bristol region, but also anywhere south of the M4. 
  • You will be covering the Bristol / Cornwall / Devon and regions to London
  • This position will allow someone to join a networked team of professionals within the department delivering H&S training courses to the business. 

What will I be doing?

  • The H&S training officer will be responsible for developing, reviewing and delivering Health and Safety training to a range of locations in the South, whilst also delivering training in an online environment using Microsoft Teams.
  • The role will see the successful candidate deliver a range of training courses such as: Permit to Work, Manual Handling, Safety in Mind (behavioural safety), Incident Investigation, whilst being involved with further training developments to support the business training needs.

What are the Requirements?

  • We are looking for someone who is passionate about H&S and delivering training to a wide range of employees.
  • The successful candidate should hold as a minimum IOSH Managing Safely certificate (NEBOSH General Certificate is desirable) and have experience delivering training sessions based around Health and Safety topics.
  • Reviewing training material as part of continuous improvement
  • Delivering classroom and online based H&S training to all divisions
  • Completing additional role objectives to enhance the offerings from the team
  • Attending periodic H&S team meetings with the wider support function
  • Create traditional and digital learning material including; storyboard, scripting and creation using digital software suite where self-created digital material is identified as the best solution.
  • Supporting the Health & Safety Learning and Implementation Manager to ensure all H&S training is aligned to Policy & Procedures.
  • Identifying H&S/Technical training needs and developing training plans
  • Carry out multi-level evaluation of training effectiveness and its impact on workplace behaviour, performance and culture
  • Engage with employees utilising Safety in Mind and promote the tools available such as Vigiminute and conversation forms
  • We are looking for someone with outstanding communication and interpersonal skills along with demonstrable computer skills across all main packages (word, excel, power point, teams).
  • Further training will be available for the successful candidate and there will be an expectation for the candidate to become (if not already) a member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH).
  • A full driving licence is also required requiring travel to different locations.
