About the role

About the role

  • Purchasing of components, at the best prices, to meet the demands of the business and to increase profitably.
  • Supplier management.

What will I be doing?

  • Raising purchase orders to satisfy safety stock levels and order demand (including the running of MRP process at least twice per week and monitoring of safety levels).
  • Negotiating prices and ensuring parts are received within the required timescales.
  • Sourcing alternative components when required.
  • Chasing purchase order acknowledgements/due dates and reviewing/reporting any that do not meet the requirements of the business.
  • Chasing late deliveries and reporting any that do not meet the requirements of the business.
  • Monitoring supplier performance and reporting/resolving significant issues.
  • Sourcing and approval of new suppliers (including creating the supplier account in ERP system).
  • Supplier meetings, including visits to their premises.
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
  • Overseeing supplier rejects process and working with suppliers to resolve issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Monitoring and reporting of goods in inspection and supplier rejects processes, in conjunction with colleagues.
  • Working with Operations Manager to ensure successful and efficient stock take (quarterly and year end).
  • Ensuring information in ERP system is kept up to date.
  • Producing reports/statistics as required.
  • Participation in group procurement team meetings and initiatives.
  • Ensure Company's Health & Safety, Security, Environmental and Quality Strategies, Policies and Objectives are adhered to and report any deficiencies to your Line Manager.

What are the requirements?

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience of procurement/purchasing and supplier management.
  • Excellent computer skills (specifically MS Office and ERP/MRP systems).
  • Ability to work on own initiative, with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent time management, attention to detail, organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to negotiate.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to multi-task.
