About the role

What will I be doing?

  • Implementing improvements/upgrades to product ranges, and working with Technical Department, in order to:
  • Make product improvements as required by the marketplace.
  • Simplify assembly.
  • Standardise assembly techniques or components used.
  • Improve the quality of the product.
  • Reduce build costs.
  • Maintain/update design documentation and technical files.
  • Verify emerging technologies.
  • Presentation of production range improvements/upgrades at relevant business meetings.
  • Processing of Engineering Change Notes, in conjunction with Senior Quality and Production Improvement Engineer, and updating the computer system accordingly.
  • Creating new part number and raising bills of materials in the computer system.
  • Creating/updating supporting documentation for both internal and external use e.g. build manuals, user manuals, service bulletins etc.
  • Incoming inspection of components, in conjunction with colleagues.
  • Investigate component defects with suppliers.
  • Assist Purchasing to source alternative components.
  • Gain hands on experience with the mechanical and electrical assembly aspects of all company products.
  • Understanding of the quality procedures relating to the position, including following all work procedures and work instructions.
  • Assisting with repairs to tools/machinery when issues occur (including liaison with service providers).
  • Providing engineering assistance to the Service/Sales teams.
  • Ensure Company's Health & Safety, Security, Environmental and Quality Strategies, Policies and Objectives are adhered to and report any deficiencies to your Line Manager.
  • Maintaining good communication in a co-operative and professional manner at all levels and with all departments within the company.
  • Flexibility needed in working hours which is essential to meet customer needs and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Striving to improve quality and performance.
  • Keeping the work area clean and tidy (in line with 5S principles).
  • Other tasks as requested by Line Manager.

What are the requirements?

Essential skills or experience

  • Experience of mechanical and electrical engineering.
  • Experience of working to quality standards and procedures.
  • Ability to work from production manuals, technical handbooks and interpret drawings.
  • Good computer skills (including the use of drawing software).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Team player.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Enthusiastic outlook and desire to learn.

Desirable skills or experience

  • Engineering qualification.
  • Experience of water purification would be an advantage, but not essential, as training on water purification technologies will be provided.
