About the role

The role will be instrumental in supporting, developing and managing the Company's Quality, Health, Safety and Environment (QHSE) strategy for the Engineered Solutions (ES) Services business in the UK & Ireland (UKI) region supporting the wider needs of Suez WTS.

This will involve building a close working relationship between the team and the business to achieve QHSE excellence, procedures, training and competence requirements into one integrated package.   

What will I be doing?

  • Management of quality, health, safety and environmental standards across the range of customers supported by the Suez WTS ES Services business.
  • Visible leadership on QHSE issues at all levels both in the client’s organisations and within Suez WTS.
  • To support WTS strategies, refine them as needed in the region and lead the development of an integrated Business System Model for Suez ES Services in the region.
  • Ensure that all employees are kept up to date with current QHSE performance.
  • Analyse existing Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental practices and procedures and pro-actively implement changes where necessary.
  • Act as focal point for all Pro-active/Reactive QHSE Issues in the WTS UKI ES Services business, supporting activities in the North Europe Region as required.
  • Ensure that regular, effective and routine inspections/management tours are undertaken.
  • Instrumental in the development, implementation and management of all integrated business systems in WTS UKI SE Services and supporting the wider Suez WTS business.
  • Working closely with customers/employees to ensure customer specific/WTS requirements are met and maintained.
  • To provide HSE and quality support for bids, contracts, sales activities etc. as required.
  • Liaise and collaborate with peer groups, QHSE organisations/associations and regulatory bodies to share best practice.
  • Part of the leadership of starting up new contracts introducing the necessary systems and procedures to ensure a high level of contract and QHSE performance from the earliest point.
  • To promote Suez and Customer behavioural safety initiatives to improve performance.
  • To participate in performance monitoring and review forums such as Customer Specific Meetings, Operational Meetings and Worker Consultative Committee
  • Lead the design and delivery of Competency based HSE training.
  • Manage the Gensuite Scope for UKI ES Services.

What are the requirements?

Travel requirements:

  • Based from home but with regular travel (50%)

Qualifications Required:

  • Possess NEBOSH or equivalent qualifications and a sound knowledge of HSE legislation and quality management principals
  • Possesses auditor qualifications or experience within ISO9001/14001/45001 management systems

Experience /Skills Required:

  • 5 years QHSE experience gained in a management role (although full technical training and development will be offered to candidates with less QHSE technical background)
  • Experience of stakeholder management
  • Experience of delivering QHSE performance through others without direct line  responsibility
  • Strong systems and performance process implementation
  • Experience of working with electronic QHSE management and support systems
  • Front line, commercial operational experience
  • Be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge, understanding and ability to implement UK and EC legislation directives
  • Specific knowledge of  COSHH Regulations , Waste Management Regulations , IPPC/PPC Regulations , CDM Regulations, Confined Space Regulations, Permit to Work Systems, TBRA’s/HAZOPS,  ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 and ISO45001,  Behavioural safety initiatives and Contractor Management

Desired experience

  • Experience in a multi-site, industrial and shift working environment.
  • Experience within the water or petrochemical industry
