About the role

You will be working 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:30am - 5pm.

You will be earning £50,232 - £52,000 plus up to 20% bonus, Car/Car allowance, BUPA Healthcare and many more benefits!

You can be based in one of the following locations for this role - Maidenhead, Avonmouth or Coventry.

About the role

What will I be doing? 

You'll be effectively project managing the development and delivery of recycling and resource development facilities including liaison with all relevant stakeholders including bid teams, operations, permitting and planning.

Key responsibilities include: 

Typically for projects involving civil & building works and / or incorporating process equipment:

  • Liaising with project sponsors during project conception and assisting in the development of designs and specifications.
  • Managing the tendering process for the procurement of contractors (including the production of required tender documentation) and producing recommendation reports.
  • Carrying out the role of Employer’s Representative and / or Engineer under the relevant subcontracts.
  • Monitoring, controlling and reporting to the Senior Construction Commercial Manager on project progress.
  • Monitoring, controlling and reporting to the Senior Construction Commercial Manager on project costs.
  • Managing contractors and suppliers in accordance with the relevant contract conditions including assessing and recommending payments, variations and any claims.
  • Preparing and managing interface schedules between civil and process contractors (plus any other relevant parties).
  • Monitoring site progress and adherence to scope and specification including management of any employed third party site supervision.
  • To be the point of contact for construction matters on the project – including with end Clients such as Local Authorities or Councils.
  • Ensuring compliance with CDM regulations.
  • To support negotiations in any claims with clients. 

What will I need to be successful?

  • Excellent communication skills with suppliers, subcontractors, clients and operational colleagues
  • Commercial awareness, including understanding and controlling;
    • The implications of designs, specifications and scope changes
  • Experience and understanding of the operational layout and requirements of a variety of waste facilities including HWRC’s and Transfer Stations
  • Understanding and previous experience in various forms of construction contracts
  • Knowledge of methods of construction, designs and specifications
  • Understanding of construction legislation including building control
  • Understanding of the planning and permitting process payment provisions in main contracts and subcontracts
  • Attention to detail including in preparing scoping documents and specifications and in reviewing issued consultant or subcontractor designs
  • Contractual awareness; engaged involvement in contract drafting and implementation during the execution phase
  • Degree or equivalent qualification
  • RICS or similar accredited course in construction project management or similar
