Summary of vacancy

Are you currently working in the energy from waste, power generation or chemical process / production engineering industry?

Are you qualified in mechanical, electrical or process engineering?

Play your part in creating green power.

When you join SUEZ, you get more than a brand-new role. Your work will help us deliver innovative and environmentally responsible solutions for water and waste management. You will get a chance to help us preserve and restore our planet’s natural capital for future generations. It’s a career that’s not only exciting, but full of opportunities as well as professional and personal fulfilment.

About the role

What will I be doing?

  • During your shifts, you’ll see that our plant runs smoothly, in line with environmental regulations. It means monitoring operations in the control room, inspecting plant operations and dealing with any problems as they arise.
  • You’ll have a team of shift personnel, (senior operations technician and operations technicians) to manage and we’ll expect you to make sure they’re trained and motivated to carry out their roles.
  • As the senior authorised person on site, you’ll be responsible for the facility outside office hours. That means you need to be a capable professional with first aid and fire marshal training.

What are the requirements?

  • You will have experience working in a similar power generation or chemical process plant, ideally an EfW facility.
  • You’ll certainly know how they work and a good understanding of any of the following would be advantageous; boilers, incinerators, steam systems and high voltage switchgear (S9/S4).
  • Qualified to HNC level (or equivalent experience) in mechanical, electrical or process engineering.
  • SUEZ will invest in an extensive training and development program for you, which will involve completing BOAS Cert IBO qualification and NEBOSH General Certificate, if you don’t have them already.
  • Alongside this technical expertise, you’ll have excellent team management skills and the ability to get the best out of people. IT-literate with permit to work systems experience and well-versed in environmental legislation, you’ll be a pivotal member of the team.

Who we are

At SUEZ the efficient and sustainable management of resources is at the heart of everything we do. Respect – acting ethically and with integrity – is one of our core values. We’re passionate about the environment and believe in protecting our world. With true team spirit, we can give our customers a standard of service that goes above and beyond and ensure that our local communities have access to essential water and waste services.

We thank our people for all they do with development opportunities, wide-ranging benefits and rewards that reflect their hard work. In a friendly, supportive environment, you’ll be inspired to grow and play your part in creating a better future for all.
