About The Role

Location: Leyland Trucks, Preston

Line Manager title:  Assistant Contract Manager 

  • Salary £30,681.02 per annum / £15.68 per hour
  • Working 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday to Thursday 07:30 - 16:00 (unpaid 30 minute break)
  • Friday 07:30 - 14:30 (unpaid 30 minute break)
     
About the role

 Ideal candidate experience 

  • Minimum of 1 years’ experience in supervisory position, operating in a continuous improvement environment. 
  • IOSH or equivalent, HR policy awareness, accident investigation experience, computer skills (MS, Excel, Word), experience of Lean Processing. 
  • A strong financial/operational skills with track record of delivering productivity and service level improvements. 
  • Understands the needs to operate in a compliant manner whilst at the same time competing in a challenging environment. 
  • Ability to relate to managing service levels, creating positive customer experience whilst managing expectations, maximising customer loyalty and profit levels. 
  • Good, open communication skills.
  • People/ Leadership 

What the job entails:

  • In order to maximise employee engagement to deliver excellent customer service and in turn, enhancing profit. 
  • To operate an open and inclusive communication style that builds environment of trust. 
  • To create an environment to coach/support operatives, to help correct behaviour and actions and identify process improvements. 
  • To ensure that the performance of cleaners/operatives is effectively managed ensuring the underperformance is managed (up to point of dismissal) and excellence is recognised. 
  • To conduct return to work interviews and assess operative suitability. 
  • To ensure cleaners / operatives are sufficiently crossed trained to ensure contingency cover during sickness and holiday leave. 

To manage holiday schedules:

To assist in the recruitment of operative positions when required. 

Area two - Operational 

In order to achieve and exceed service level performance to retain the client and exceed the customers’ expectations. 

  • Responsible for ensuring operatives are present and working as planned.  
  • To manage the daily workload and deal with contingency process for absence, briefing on daily work instructions, distribution of work, machinery malfunctions and escalations. 
  • To accommodate the customer’s additional needs, orders and to plan work efficiently.  
  • To manage operatives throughout the day to monitor their progress and take corrective action to ensure that the daily workload is completed.

Area three – Compliance  

In order to operate in a compliant and safe manner, protecting our staff, our stakeholders, our environment and our reputation. 

  • To ensure activities within operations are carried out with the highest regard to the Health and Safety and Wellbeing of all employees, customers and members of the public in accordance with legal, environmental, and company policies. 
  • Carrying out staff Health and Safety Training 
  • Ensuring operatives are operating machinery in a safe and legal way. 
  • Ensuring that employee compliance is monitored against our Policies and Procedures 
  • Bringing to the attention of the Assistant Contract Manager any complaints made by the client or staff relating to Health and Safety at that customers premises. 
  • Create, develop and promote a culture within the region that focuses on business efficiency and compliance with company policies and objectives – paying particular attention to the Safety in Mind programme.

Area four – P&L Optimisation

  • In order to achieve or exceed operational KPIs, providing the most cost effective solution to obtain profit for the business whilst ensuring customer satisfaction and compliance.  
  • To contribute to improvements in systems and working procedures.
  • Updating all performance charts and interpreting the data to improve working practices.
  • Managing 3rd Party Service Suppliers effectively and efficiently.

Area five – Customer Relationship
In order to provide the optimum customer experience. 

  • Promote a customer service focus in the operatives’ approach to their work.  
  • To liaise with the Assistant Contract Manager in ways to enhance the customer experience and services provided.
  • Attend meetings with the client to ensure courteously and efficient communication, resolving customer complaints or queries effectively. 
  • Involve and support the Suez account manager and support services regarding operations and activities at the customer site. 

Area six – Over and Above

  • Maximise positive customer experience and enhance profitability. 
  • Promote and engage with Wellbeing and other employee initiatives, relating to staff experience, and actively coaching / discussing benefits provided.
