About the Role

Location: Brunel Road HWRC, Newton Abbot, Devon UK

  • Salary: £13.62 per hour / £28,426.90 per annum
  • Contracted hours per week: 36.5 hours in winter; 40 hours in Summer
  • Shift pattern winter: Tues to Friday 08:45-16:45 and Saturday 09:45 -16:45
  • Shift pattern summer: Tuesday to Friday 08:45- 17;15 and Saturday 09:45-1815
  • Rest Days: Sunday and Monday 
  • Holiday: 28 days including Bank holidays
  • Requirements: Driving licence Mandatory 
About the role

What will I be doing?

  • Assisting site supervisors with the day to day management of a large team.
  • Co-ordinating with bulk haulage and trading colleagues to ensure the provision of adequate resources to move material into and off site, in a timely manner.
  • To assist the site management to ensure daily production targets are achieved & production time is maximised at the facility.
  • Manage and maintain shift logs and provide daily feedback on performance to teams.
  • To carry out toolbox talks for safe systems and safety alerts.
  • To assist supervisors with weekly audits, action plans and oversee corrective actions
  • To assist supervisors with employee inductions, briefings and training.
  • Carry out waste acceptance checks on incoming material and carry out rejections as required in line with that specific customer’s contract.
  • Ensuring the segregation of all recyclable materials at the facility is maximised.
  • You will be managing housekeeping activities to ensure all are carried out in a safe manner and conform to the safe systems of work and company policies.
  • Continuously promoting a culture and operating process that keeps focus on health and safety, ensuring SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees.
  • To ensure that all work equipment within their area is used and maintained in a safe manner, all defects reported, and a high standard of housekeeping is maintained.
  • To carry out 5’s audits and SIM observations to promote and maintain the safety and lean culture on site.
  • Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job role.

 

What are the requirements?

This is an ideal opportunity for any employee who is interested in gaining experience in a first line management role, and who are keen to progress and develop their personnel skills.

Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job role. you will require:

  • You must be self-motivated and be able to work as part of a team. 
  • A flexible approach to work will be advantageous as you may be expected to work overtime as required.
  • You will either already hold or be expected to achieve the ISOH Managing Safely Qualification, you will also hold mobile plant licenses, COTO qualification and be computer literate.
  • Experience in Waste Management, Risk Assessment and Health and Safety are all desirable.
