The salary for this position is from £31,658 to - £35,000 depending on qualifications. Plus Van, up to 10% Bonus, Holidays, Pension.

This role is based at Bebside HWRC. The role is 4 days a week. Those days are Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. With Tuesday - Thursday are rest days.

Responsible for 3 sites. Bebside HWRC, Wooler HWRC and North Sunderland HWRC

About the role

What will I be doing?

  • Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for supervising the daily running of the site operations ensuring full compliance on the site.
  • You will be responsible to ensure efficient deployment of staff and resources to promote recycling at the wood recycling facility.
  • You will work closely with the other members of the wood recycling facility team and contribute to ensuring we provide the best service to our clients and customers. 
  • You will supervise the personnel and fixed plant, monitoring quality and continually striving to implement process improvements.
  • Further responsibilities will include collating working hours of staff for payroll on a monthly basis, maintain budgetary control over operations, order equipment and resource for the site.
  • You will also be responsible for ensuring activities of all employees comply with SUEZ’s policies and procedures and relevant health and safety legislation.

What are the requirements?

  • You must be able to demonstrate a passion for recycling coupled with strong communication skills.
  • A broad knowledge of shredders and screeners is desirable, but not essential, as training will be provided.
  • Experience of operating loading shovels and excavators/material handlers is desirable but not essential as training will be given.
  • You will be required to be computer literate and have knowledge in the use of Microsoft packages.
  • You will be able to bring your experience of supervising and developing engaged teams to meet very high operational standards to the role.
  • You will need a minimum certification of IOSH managing safely or the ability to achieve this within 12 months. 
  • A relevant COTC will be a distinct advantage or the ability to achieve this within 12 months.
