What You Will Be Doing
As the Production Operations Manager, you will take ownership of our Materials Recovery Facility (MRF) and wider waste treatment and transfer operations at the facility in Avonmouth.
This is a role that requires strong leadership, enabling you to support an established operational team to work autonomously, whist you focus on problem-solving, continuous improvement and innovation. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing production operations across the MRF and associated waste treatment and transfer activities, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and safety.
- Leading and developing teams to drive performance, ensuring staff are trained, motivated, and operating safely.
- Optimising plant and process performance, using management principles such as lean to improve factors critical to performance such as, throughput, downtime, quality, and yield.
- Ensuring compliance with environmental and health & safety regulations and drive a positive safety culture.
- Using data-led decision-making to drive improvements in operational efficiency, cost management, and waste recovery.
- Overseeing P&L responsibilities, ensuring the site operates within budget and identifying opportunities for cost savings and revenue generation.
- Driving innovation, exploring new processes and technologies to enhance performance and sustainability.
- Adapting to evolving challenges, responding to changing waste streams, market conditions, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements for the Role
To succeed in this role, you will need:
- A valid COTC qualification** (or willingness to achieve this).
- NEBOSH or equivalent health & safety qualification.
- Strong knowledge of waste transfer, treatment, and MRF operations.
- Experience in lean management or a willingness to adopt these principles.
- Commercial awareness, with experience managing budgets, P&L, and driving operational efficiencies.
- IT literacy, with the ability to use data and reporting tools to make informed decisions.
- A proactive, adaptable, and innovative mindset, capable of identifying and implementing improvements.
- Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to develop teams and drive a positive safety and performance culture.
