Through our waste contract with Greater Manchester Combined Authority, SUEZ operates the UKs biggest reuse facility, which transforms 100,000 waste items into re-sale goods. The Renew Hub, alongside 3 Renew shops are used to collect, repair and resell items donated from our Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRCs).

The Renew project also supports multiple off-site events, pop-up shops and a range of online sales platforms.

About The role

Location: Trafford Park, Manchester

  • Salary: £24,654.40 per annum / £12.60 per hour
  • Working 37.5 hours per week
  • Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday 08:00- 16:00pm & Fridays 07:00am - 15:00pm
  • Flexibility is required as you may be require to work some weekend due to events
  • Must have your own transport and Driving licences as you may be required to travel in and around the Manchester area

 

About the role

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor the receipt, repair, and dispatch of electrical reuse goods according to the Standard Operating Protocols.
  • Examining electrical appliances and identifying the cause of the breakdown.
  • Repairing and replacing defective appliances.
  • Testing the function of repaired appliances and making adjustments as needed for resale.
  • Keep stock control systems up to date and make sure inventories are accurate.
  • Work towards achieving the sales targets for electrical items resale.
  • Ensure the site is kept clean and tidy at all times and to comply fully with all company and local procedures.
  • Produce regular reports and statistics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.
  • Maintain standards of health and safety in the work environment.
  • Oversee the operation of warehouse management systems and automated storage and retrieval systems.
  • Frequently complete daily checks and maintenance of mobile plant and equipment used at the facility.
  • Contribute to lean and 5’s activities across the site in order to maintain a clean, organised and efficient workplace
  • Work as part of a team to maintain an efficient and cost-effective operation, ensuring that SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees.
  • Maximise customer interest and sales levels by displaying products appropriately.

General Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the re-use hub management, repair Pod operatives and site staff to ensure sufficient levels of stock are maintained to achieve sales targets, whilst educating what items are saleable and in demand.
  • Provide information as required to the Renew manager.
  • Ensure adequate cover to maximise trading hours

  • Ability to plan and progress a series of jobs within guidelines, make frequent decisions involving the use of initiative and judgement without access to seniors.
  • Vision for creating and implementing ideas for re-use, upcycling and giving back to local communities.
  • Confident communicator with individuals from all walks of life.
  • Aptitude to develop and implement a visual strategy for displaying products.
  • Competency to plan and prioritise workloads.
  • IT skills including spreadsheets, warehousing software and email.
  • Implement best practice from the third sector on re-use initiatives
  • Enthusiasm for re-use, repair, and upcycling, and delivering affordable items to support people on low incomes.
