About the role

As a Laboratory Assistant at Latis Scientific, you’ll be part of a team that provides a holistic service in the water industry. We are committed to helping customers reduce their impact on the environment and maximising the return on their investments

What will I be doing?

  • Taking calls/ emails of consumable requests, schedule in their delivery and organise the preparation of client bottle and media requests, ensuring that requests are actioned within a timely manner.  These requests will then need to be booked in with our local couriers for seamless delivery to the client.  
  • The role also involves, sample preparation and sample disposal in the Laboratory.
  • The Laboratory Assistant is also required to provide follow up-care with clients, to ensure that all requests have been delivered. 
  • Liaising with clients via phone/ email to gauge their consumable requirements
  • Pre-logging samples on AIS LIMS to produce pre-logged bottle labels.
  • Packing and labelling bottles/ media/ kits as per clients request
  • Booking customer bottle deliveries via our local courier company
  • Monitoring client bottle requests via the couriers to ensure that they are delivered, and chasing failed deliveries
  • To uphold and comply with the statutory provision of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and any other relevant legislation and policies or procedures relating to Health & Safety at Work.
  • The Logistic Officer will uphold and comply with the requirements of International Standard EN ISO/IEC 17025:2005 ‘General Requirements for the competence of testing and calibration laboratories’.
  • Sample preparation and sample disposal.
  • To undertake any other reasonable task or responsibility requested by a senior manager

What are the requirements/qualifications?

  • A level/ GCSE (or equivalent) in a science – related subject
  • Previous experience in a packing/ office environment
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to follow procedures.
  • Proactive.
  • Resourceful.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Flexible.
  • Organised.
