About the role

This position is a part time, permanent position

The working hours will be 2 days per week, Sunday and Monday, from 08:00 - 16:00.

The pay rate for this role is £9 per hour.

What will I be doing?

  • Providing an outstanding and dedicated customer service, greeting customers with a smile and advising members of the public on waste to be recycled
  • Managing the flow of customers into the site, ensuring that the site adheres to opening and closing times
  • Assisting customers - removing heavy items from the boot of a car, carrying heavy items for them
  • Working within the reuse shop and being passionate and knowledgeable about the items for sale and the quality of them, giving us the confidence to appreciate that we are providing a service through selling.
  • Maintaining accurate records of the items brought in and out of the shop, using the till systems, computers and weighing scales to ensure all data is accurate. This data is used to calculate the percentage of goods being recycled, going towards a staff recycling bonus.
  • Maintain stock levels and records of what items are selling and what are not, giving feedback to HWRCs.
  • Researching the market using various tools, such as the internet, to understand items and their value. To have a visual eye, placing merchandise is key areas to attract people to buy.
  • Manual handling of items, some of which will be bulky such as furniture, in and out of the shop.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the site, including sweeping up litter and debris.
  • Ensuring SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees and of other people who may be affected by his/her actions or omissions.

Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job-role.
