A position for a site operative has become available at Redscar Transfer Station, Longridge Rd, Preston.

The post requires the successful person to work as part of a team and carry out a wide range of duties associated with a busy Transfer Station, mobile and fixed plant operations including shredders, good housekeeping with site, permit  and Health and Safety compliance and reporting into the site team leader, supervisor and manager

Job Role and Responsibilities.

* To ensure the all relative site Health and Safety and Environmental Compliance is adhered to, all daily plant defect and daily check are completed, filled in correctly and stored on site

* To work well under their own initiative and as part of a team 

* Be a good communicator

* To ensure that the optimum recycling recovery at the site.

* To be smart and presentable at all times, wearing the correct staff uniform and Personal Protective Equipment.

* To comply with all of SUEZ policies and procedures, including safe working procedures.

* To carry out your duties in a professional manner.

* Be polite and courteous at all times.

* Any other duties that are reasonably requested.

The hours for the role are Monday to Friday 9.00am till 5.30pm, 40hrs per week inclusive of 30 min’s unpaid break for lunch and occasional weekend working will be required. 

A competitive hourly rate of £9:27 per hour and a salary of £19,281 per annum is offered with this role,

Please note: previous experience operating plant with training certificates and a good knowledge/ understanding of the waste industry is preferred, basic IT is also desirable however full training on specific programs e.g. weighbridge will also be undertaken.


We are looking for an enthusiastic team player, who will be expected to obtain a full working understanding of the site licence / permit and who will work to ensure site operations exceed the standards required.

As the post requires a variety of tasks to be completed, a flexible approach to work is required.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake personal development to obtain skills for waste acceptance, maintenance of site equipment, infrastructure with the operation of mobile and fixed plant machinery.
