About the role

What will I be doing as an Assistant Financial Analyst?

  • Maintaining and improving the reporting for large, long-term PFI waste contracts by developing strong relationships with the Client, the regional Operations team and other key stakeholders
  • Completing the monthly invoice process, reporting and query management in accordance with contractual requirements
  • Ensuring contractual compliance with the Payment Mechanisms of the relevant contracts on a monthly and annual basis
  • Highlighting areas of potential improvement within the PFI and other regional contracts via development and analysis of KPIs and other reporting tools
  • Assisting the Operations and Finance teams with forecasting, the annual budget process and financial modelling for new tenders

What are the requirements? (Experience and qualifications)

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • The ability to work to deadlines and to be self-motivating as the role has a considerable degree of autonomy within a contractual framework
  • The ability to coordinate and work with others across a multi-discipline and multi-skilled structure, liaising with, amongst others, finance, IT, administration and legal teams
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Experience of other finance and reporting packages is beneficial but not essential
  • Experience of working within a finance team and/or be in possession of a degree in finance or business and looking to start or continue CIMA or ACCA with study support being offered as part of the role
  • A full UK driving licence as travel within the South-West of England (and occasionally more widely) will be part of the role as the contracts on which you will be working encompass multiple locations regionally
