About the role

What will I be doing as a Plant Operative?
You will carry out duties individually, or as a member of a team, for operations to control, transfer and stockpile waste & recyclables at a busy material treatment facility. 

This is a full time permanent role based at Altens East RDF, working Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:30pm with overtime avaialble during busy periods.

The roll will involve:

  • Operating mobile and fixed plant, including cleaning and maintenance of equipment in accordance with training provided.
  • Managing stockpiles for processing, and loading processed material onto transport for carriage forward.
  • Ensure that SUEZ complies fully with its legal duties, in respect of the health, safety and welfare of its employees and of other people who may be affected by his/her actions or omissions.
  • Co-operating with SUEZ and with other employees in order to comply with site permits, all applicable legislation and SUEZ Policies and Procedures.
  • Co-operating directly with customers , providing excellent customer service.
  • Any other duties that are reasonably requested within the scope of the job-role, including undertaking first aider / fire safety duties on site. 


What are the requirements?

We are looking for an enthusiastic team player, who will work to ensure site operations meet the standards required. You'll need a flexible approach, working in a challenging environment, expected to provide cover for annual leave and on occasion to help cover weekends, as well as:

  • Mobile plant experience, especially with forklifts, loading shovels, or 360 excavators, would be advantageous, but not essential as full training will be given.
  • Experience with fixed plant, such as balers, would be advantageous.
  • Prior waste / recycling or similar process environment highly advantageous.
  • Excellent understanding and approach to health & safety.
  • Great communication and customer service skills
