About the role

 What will I be doing?

You will work closely with the Senior Tax Manager (Employer Compliance) to provide support across all areas of employment tax compliance including:

  • PAYE and NICs;
  • Company car/van reporting;
  • Benefits and expenses reporting (PAYE Settlement Agreement and forms P11D);
  • IR35;
  • Construction Industry Scheme (CIS) ;
  • Share schemes reporting;
  • Short-Term Business Visitors;

This is an incredibly varied role that will also give you the opportunity to work closely with, and provide employment tax advice to, teams across the wider business including Payroll, Compensation & Benefits, HR and Fleet. 

  • You will also be the first point of contact to help employees who have employment tax/benefits queries.

As a team, we are focused on identifying process improvements to achieve efficiencies in the way we work. 

You will play a vital role in helping to identify, develop and implement new processes and procedures to further improve SUEZ R&R UK’s employment tax compliance processes and achieve efficiencies across all areas.

What are the requirements (experience and qualifications)?

  • You should ideally have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working in employment tax compliance, either in an in-house role or practice
  • You will ideally be ATT or AAT qualified (to level 4) or working towards your CTA qualification.
  • You will have practical experience of reviewing the PAYE/NIC reporting requirements for employee benefits and expenses, company car/van reporting and preparation of forms P11D/annual PSA
  • Familiarity with the requirements of IR35, CIS, Short Term Business Visitors and share schemes reporting is beneficial

Skills and behaviours

  • We are looking for someone who is a team player, bright and ambitious, with a willingness to learn and develop;
  • You will be computer literate with a very good working knowledge of MS Excel;
  • An important aspect of this role is to communicate with employees and help with queries relating to their benefits and/or tax.  You should therefore be confident communicating with other people, and able to convey information clearly, both in writing and verbally;
  • You should have strong administrative and organisational skills with an ability to progress multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritise workload and maintain effective systems;
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate a willingness and aptitude to use technology wherever possible, to find ways to automate key reporting tasks and therefore help improve efficiencies;
  • You will be a logical problem solver, with strong analytical skills and the ability to scrutinise large volumes of data to identify errors and/or inconsistencies;
  • You will take responsibility for delivering work to a high standard and ensuring both internal and external deadlines are met.
