We’re looking for an experienced commercial workshop manager to join our new Mid Kent contract to lead and motivate our team of skilled technicians.

About the role

What will I be doing?

An exciting challenge for an experienced Workshop Manager with excellent people leadership skills, your main focus will be to supervise our Vehicle Technicians, outsourced partners and various administration tasks in our very busy workshops throughout Mid Kent. Day to day you will:

  • Be tasked with managing the maintenance of all fleet assets across multiple sites in the Mid Kent region, you’ll ensure that fully compliant vehicles are provided to the operations in a timely manner
  • Have responsibility for each workshop resource and budgetary targets and overall responsibility for the health and safety of employees within our workshops
  • Compile monthly reports on workshop activities and manage all employee related matters
  • Promote best practice across your remit and ensure that all SUEZ recycling and recovery UK procedures are always being adhered to

What are the requirements?

Using your excellent interpersonal skills and ability to manage and motivate a team you’ll ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of employees, customers and other personnel is prioritised as well as complying in all circumstances with the laws and regulations connected with your activities.  Find out more about our ideal candidate:

  • You’ll have previous experience of managing multi-site maintenance facilities coupled with significant industry knowledge and in depth product knowledge of refuse collection vehicles and systems
  • Fully qualified in various aspects of the role you’ll have; Fully qualified HGV Technician; a Health and safety qualification, Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or higher and Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) road haulage operations
  • You’ll be an experience people manager
  • To be conversant with the (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) guide to maintaining roadworthiness as well as knowledge of all aspects of vehicle compliance criteria
  • To be conversant with the principles of fleet management systems
  • Financial awareness
  • Knowledge and experience of Lean, 5s methodology would be an advantage but not essential
  • Be computer literate, with excellent planning, organisational and communications skills
  • You will act in an honest, responsible and respectful manner with a professional conduct
