About the role:

Package: £43,561.14 + Car Allowance/Company Car + 10% Bonus + Pension + holidays + Sick pay + corporate discount scheme with many retail/travel/tourist/insurance etc companies/websites.

Location: Somerset

Working hours: 8 hours per day – Monday – Friday between 6:00 – 18:00

You will work in close partnership with Somerset Council, supporting the Contract Manager in the effective delivery of waste and recycling services across the county. You'll be responsible for helping manage daily operations, ensuring compliance, driving performance, and supporting frontline teams.

Key Responsibilities will include: 

  • ​To manage the collection of waste/service delivery and operational staff on the Somerset Contract in an effective and cost-efficient manner and lead, motivate and engage your team in order to exceed the client’s expectation. 
  • Reporting to and assisting the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for achieving the goals and strategy
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining a culture and operating process that keeps focus on health and safety issues to minimise reportable accidents, lost time and other accidents.
  • You will assist the Operations Manager in investigating, recommending and implementing operating regimes that minimise cost and maximise profit at the depot as well as administering the business efficiently and keeping accurate records.

 

 

About the role

What you’ll need to apply:

Essential:

  • Be able to demonstrate the ability to communicate and negotiate at all levels confidently, internally and externally, and have experience of managing/supervising a team of people through HR procedures.
  • Experience in fleet legislation, and practical experience of waste management or a logistical background.
  • Full UK driving licence

Desired:

  • HGV licence
  • Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
  •  IOSH Managing Safely qualification
