The salary on offer for this role is £66,905 per annum. 
Benefits include Company car or car allowance of £9352.40 per annum, up to 20% annual bonus, 10% employer pension, 3 x Life assurance policy and 25 days holiday (plus 8 bank holidays). 

For this role you can be based anywhere in the UK, with a base office at one our our locations. You must be willing to travel nationally on a regular basis.

 

 

About the role


What Will I Be Doing?
As Technical Manager – Processing you will:

  • Lead and inspire a team of 5 technical professionals, including Senior Technical Plant Engineers, Optimisation Managers, and graduate engineers, fostering both professional development and technical excellence.
  • Apply your expert knowledge of advanced recycling and waste treatment technologies to support operational and engineering teams.
  • Provide expert guidance during the design, installation, commissioning, and optimisation of systems such as:
  • Optical sorters and Near-Infrared (NIR) sensors for material identification and separation  
  • Balers and compactors for efficient material handling and logistics  
  • Shredders, granulators, and pre-treatment systems
  • Automated conveyors systems, robotic pickers, and AI-driven sorting platforms
     
  • You will Stay ahead of emerging legislation and industry standards, ensuring compliance and future-readiness across all technical operations.
  • Oversee and contribute to projects ranging from targeted upgrades to multi-million-pound facility transformations.
  • Ensure robust due diligence and technical governance across all engineering activities.
  • Travel regularly (typically 2–3 nights per week) to support site-based commissioning, breakdown response, and optimisation efforts.
  • Collaborate closely with energy and materials processing teams to enhance system performance and resource recovery.


What Are The Requirements?
To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • At least an HNC qualification in a relevant field; a degree is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in waste management, recycling technologies, or related engineering fields.
  • Proven leadership experience managing technical teams in a complex operational environment.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively across departments and disciplines.
  • Solid project management capabilities, with experience delivering both small-scale and large-scale technical projects.
  • Willingness and ability to travel regularly to support operational needs.
  • A proactive, forward-thinking approach to engineering challenges, balancing innovation with operational reliability.
